Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about hail damage repair, insurance claims, or our process? We’ve got you covered. Here are answers to the most common questions to help you feel confident every step of the way.
No. Insurance companies classify claims into two categories: (1) Collision, and (2) Comprehensive. Hail damage is a comprehensive claim and is considered an act of nature. Acts of nature will not increase your insurance rates.
NO! By law, the choice is yours. If you do choose their shop, you will pay your deductible. They are under contract and must charge you. Ham Auto Dents Plus is as reputable as any company they recommend – we just pass the savings on to you.
There is an “unrepaired damage waiver” in your insurance policy. The paid amount of your unrepaired hail damage will be deducted from any future claims on your vehicle. Although it’s tempting to keep the initial check, insurance companies commonly tend to underwrite their initial estimates, sometimes by half of the actual amount needed for repairs. If you decide to keep the money, you have settled your claim and not actually recouped the total value lost.
Insurance checks are normally good for 180 days. However, your estimate is based on current labor and part rates. Waiting will also increase your risk for “unrepaired damage” complications.
From start to finish, most repairs can be completed in as little as a week. Vehicles that require conventional repairs may require longer repair times depending on parts availability and body shop schedules. Insurance adjusters can also delay the process if they are overbooked and take longer than normal to approve supplements.
